The olive tree is a powerful symbol of Palestinian identity, culture, and resilience. It sustains over 100,000 Palestinian families, anchors traditions and identities, and has been a frequent target of destruction and theft.

Since 1967, Israeli authorities and settlers have destroyed 800,000 Palestinian olive trees. Over the past eighteen months, photographers Adam Broomberg and Rafael Gonzalez have documented these ancient olive trees in the Occupied Territories of Palestine, capturing their essence in this book.

These compelling portraits highlight the trees as steadfast markers in a historical and ever-changing landscape, reflecting the enduring presence and resilience of the Palestinian people and their deep connection to the land.
